But isn’t that another shade of lying? And doesn’t it mirror our own tendency to bend the truth—often unintentionally—because of social pressure or bias? Before Generative AI hit the mainstream, trustworthiness was paramount. Now, disclaimers like “this AI can make mistakes” have become the accepted trade-off for scalability. Have we resigned ourselves to an era where AI just amplifies our ethical ambiguity? Because the real question still lingers:

Why We Lie (Even When We Don’t Intend To)

Humans rarely lie out of sheer malice. More often, our falsehoods creep in through our blind spots:

While the film focuses on rebellion and distrust, the novel explores AI's complex ethical and philosophical dilemmas, highlighting how both interpretations mirror our changing relationship with technology.

This conversation about AI lying isn’t just about technology—it’s about us. How much of our humanity, with all its complications, are we prepared to see reflected in the machines we create? And are we ready to deal with what they show us?

Just as Asimov’s novel and its movie adaptation present different perspectives on AI, we must also question whether our understanding of AI today reaches its trustworthy source or is merely a projection of our biases.

If AI lies because we lie, teaching it honesty might be our first real step toward teaching ourselves. The gap between technology and human nature is narrow yet critical, and crossing it could reveal that the limits of AI are, in fact, the limits of our own humanity.
